A 20-year-old Goldsboro man is behind bars after being charged in connection with the rape of a child.
Tayvon Hawkins, of 1306 Stevens St., was arrested Wednesday after he was allegedly found by a Goldsboro police officer in the back yard of a home in the 300 block of North Kornegay Street committing a sexual act with a young girl.
The officer was responding to the report of a breaking and entering in progress.
The age of the girl was not released.
Police said they could not confirm whether Hawkins was involved in the break-in.
He is being held under a $500,000 bond in the Wayne County Jail.
