N.C. DOT to host seminar for possible contractors

The N.C. Department of Transportation will host an outreach meeting Wednesday in Goldsboro for small business enterprises and historically underutilized businesses interested in subcontracting opportunities with the department on upcoming transportation projects in eastern North Carolina.
The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Seminar Room 161 at the Wayne Learning Center at Wayne County Community College, 3000 Wayne Memorial Drive.
The department is seeking businesses that specialize in activities such as hauling and trucking, clearing and grubbing, incidental concrete construction and masonry, guarding and fencing, erosion control and other highway-related trades for future projects.
Business owners will have the opportunity to meet with staff from the department's eastern transportation divisions, the Small Business Enterprise program coordinator and certification specialist, as well as the Historically Underutilized Business coordinator.
A small business enterprise is certified by the DOT and has an annual gross income of up to $1.5 million, excluding materials. A historically underutilized business is certified by the N.C. Department of Administration HUB Office as one that is at least 51 percent minority- or disabled- owned and operated.
