Wayne Sherriff's dive team helps Johnston County officials

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office dive team assisted in a murder investigation conducted by Johnston County lawmen Tuesday afternoon.
The divers were needed to search for undisclosed evidence in a creek several feet deep near East Evans Road, off of Lubby Smith Road, about one mile from the county line.
Deputies with the Johnston County Sheriff's Office declined to say what was being searched for or if any evidence was located in the water search that lasted several hours.
The investigation is related to the death of Linwood Ray Pilkington, 42, who was found in his home outside of Selma shortly after midnight Nov. 18, killed by a gunshot wound.
