Chief Cecil Hunt of the Tuscarora tribe makes a traditional Native American frycake. He said the demonstration was the first time the careful cooking was done for anyone outside of the tribe.
The American Indian Celebration at the Wayne County Museum on Saturday coincided with the opening of a new exhibit at the museum, "The American Indians of North Carolina: Then and Now." Traditional artwork and food were also on display. Of the eight Native American tribes in North Carolina there was a representative from six of them.
