Tammy Forrester, who has served as health and safety director for the Wayne/Lenoir Chapter of American Red Cross, has been named director of development for the chapter. Forrester's Red Cross career began in December 2006, when she was named Wayne County blood coordinator. In 2008, she was named health and safety director with additional duties as volunteer coordinator.
In 2009, consolidation of services presented her with the opportunity to be health and safety director for Wayne, Lenoir and Greene counties. Earlier this year, as all health and safety programs were reorganized, she became the Red Cross health and safety sales support person for the Triangle and Eastern Region of North Carolina.
"We are very excited about this new opportunity for Tammy," said Chuck Waller, Wayne/Lenoir Chapter executive director. "Her well-rounded Red Cross experience and personality make her a perfect fit for the development director position."
As development director, Forrester will be responsible for fundraising in Wayne, Lenoir and Greene counties. She replaces Samia Garner, who left the Red Cross for another position.
Originally from Rocky Mount, Forrester has lived in Goldsboro for 22 years with her husband, Andy, and their three sons. Before working for the Red Cross, Forrester covered eastern North Carolina as a sales representative for Pro-Med of Calypso.
