Tuscarora Cultural Chief Elisha Locklear will open the American Indian Celebration at the Wayne County Museum on Saturday at noon.
The event is a precursor to the opening of a new exhibit at the museum, "The American Indians of North Carolina: Then and Now" on Nov. 1.
It will begin with a traditional blessing and will be followed by dancers, drummers, cultural presenters and presentations by native American artists.
Artists' work will be on sale.
Locklear, along with Chief Cecil Hunt, will make a similar presentation on American Indian culture Friday, Nov. 4, from 3-7 p.m. at the Plum Tree Marketplace.
