Goldsboro Civil Air Patrol looking for members

The Goldsboro Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, the United States Air Force Auxiliary, will conduct a membership drive for both cadet and adult members throughout the month of October, with events planned at local schools throughout the Wayne County.
The membership drive will include a unit open house on Oct. 8 at the Wayne Executive Airport (formerly Goldsboro-Wayne Municipal Airport), 240 Aviation Road, Pikeville, beginning at 9 a.m.
Membership is open to young people from 12 to 18 for the cadet program, and adults 18 and older for seniors.
Civil Air Patrol, the official U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, is a civilian, volunteer, nonprofit, service organization.
Its unpaid members perform more than 80 percent of inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue and Coordination Center.
Volunteers also take a leading role in aerospace education and conduct one of America's finest youth programs, the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program.
Civil Air Patrol won fame during World War II for its coastal patrol and other all-volunteer civilian defense activities.
Today, the organization conducts a wide variety of emergency service missions, including search and rescue, disaster relief, counter-drug activities and carries on a comprehensive program of aerospace education and youth leadership training.
