A study on traffic concerning the closing of some roads at rail crossings in the city will be discussed during the work session of the Goldsboro City Council Monday at 5 p.m. in the City Hall Addition at 200 N. Center St.

The study by the N.C. Department of Transportation is expected to recommend the possible closure of Mulberry, Virginia, Bryant, Bain and Lionel streets where they cross railroad tracks.

An informational workshop will be held Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. at Wayne Middle High Academy on Lionel Street for members of the public who would like more information.

Public hearings for two rezoning requests will also be held, as Franklin Baking Company and Kathy Woodard are seeking to alter the zoning codes for two properties. Woodard's request is to make an R-12 residential property on South Harding Drive an R06 residential to allow for residential units. Franklin Baking aims to change its property on the northwest corner of West Holly and North Virginia streets from residential to general industry.

Ron Martin's conditional use permit for his property on the west side of North Center Street between Walnut and Mulberry streets will also be up for a public hearing. Martin is aiming to open an establishment for entertainment purposes that would be rented for events in what was previously known as the Wayne or Variety Theater.

Public hearings on the city's performance with Community Development Block Grant funding and Home Investment Partnership funds, and the Wayne County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan will be held as well.

The hazard mitigation plan will seek to combine the plans from the city and the county.
