The Rev. Colin Munroe
Wayne Memorial Hospital has named a new director of pastoral care.
The Rev. Colin Munroe comes to Goldsboro from Black Mountain. An ordained minister of the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, most recently he served as a chaplain for the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.
He replaces Suzanne Franklin, who had been chaplain at the hospital since 2005 and left in the spring to pursue other opportunities.
Rev. Munroe is a native of Charlotte. He holds a master's degree in divinity from the Trinity School for Ministry and has completed 400 hours of clinical pastoral education, including a one-year residency at the VA Healthcare System in Pittsburgh.
The pastoral care department at the hospital supports healing efforts through response to the spiritual needs of the patient and family, while also providing support for the patient care team and hospital staff.
The hospital also boasts a strong volunteer chaplaincy program, comprised of ministers from a variety of denominational backgrounds, to supplement the pastoral care department in supporting patients and their families.
