SNOW HILL -- In the first concert of the 2011012 Greene County Performing Arts series, the band Children of the Horn will delight listeners with a combination of funk, soul jazz, rhythm and blues.
The Raleigh based instrumental ensemble made up of six exciting and multi-talented musicians will perform on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. at the Greene Central High School Music Building at 140 School Drive in Snow Hill.
With a front line of horns, Children of the Horn takes the listener on a kaleidoscopic journey through original compositions that range from super-syncopated funk and Latin to swaggering New Orleans Second Line to classic Motown-inspired grooves.
Children of the Horn are also North Carolina Arts Council Touring Artists and have performed at Centerfest, Taste of Durham, Beaufort Music Festival, African heritage Festival and many more.
Adult tickets for the concert are $15 and student tickets are $5. Tickets may be purchased at the Greene County Museum at 107 NW Third Street, Snow Hill or at the Greene County Chamber of Commerce (252) 747-8090 or the Sticks and More Gift Shop at 216 SE Second St., Snow Hill.
