A Kinston man was arrested Wednesday shortly after he allegedly used a Glock semi-automatic handgun to rob a Goldsboro business.

Matthew Thomas Webb, 31, of Hodges Road, has been charged in the robbery of Family Dollar, located at 185 N.C. 111 S., around 11:20 a.m.

Police say Webb previously worked at several law enforcement agencies in Georgia, including a police department and Sheriff's Office, but he is currently employed at Sanderson Farms in Kinston.

Webb was charged by Goldsboro police with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The two employees and six customers in the store at the time of the robbery were not injured, police said.

Police said the suspect wore a bandanna across his face and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the store. Webb allegedly left the store in a Jeep Wrangler and traveled north on N.C. 111, then east on U.S. 70.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office helicopter aided in the manhunt.

Webb was pulled over in Wayne County near the Lenoir County line where he was taken into custody.

Webb was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
