Booze it and Lose it
Seventy-seven violations were cited Aug. 12 when law enforcement officers from the Goldsboro and Fremont police departments, Wayne County Sheriff's Department and Wayne County's Probation/Parole department conducted a "Booze It and Lose It" checkpoint at the 2200 block of Highway 117 South. Thirty-eight officers took part in the checkpoint, which resulted in five people being charged with driving while intoxicated, 15 with driving while license revoked, 13 with no operator's license, four with drug violations, one with a seat belt violation, one for no insurance and 38 with other violations.
70 shoes stolen
An estimated $8,000 worth of Nike shoes was reported as stolen from a storage unit on North Berkeley Boulevard as part of an incident police are investigating.
Kendrick Farley of Glendale, Ariz. told police he had about $19,000 worth of goods removed from his storage unit, including military uniforms, boots, a living room set, 40-inch television and 35 pairs of Nike Air Jordan shoes.
Returned stolen merchandise
Police are investigating an incident in which two white females and one white male returned two stolen Four Paws Wee Wee pads to Pet Supplies Plus on North Berkeley Boulevard in an attempt to receive cash for the returned merchandise.
According to the police report, video surveillance showed the two females stole the property the night before. The price of the pads was listed as $39.98 each.
