The Goldsboro-Wayne Transportation Authority has received $62,182 in state funding through the N.C. Department of Transportation Public Transportation Division's Urban/Regional Bus and Facility Program.

The program assists in providing the required match to direct recipients of federally funded grants through the Federal Transportation Administration for projects such as new buses and vehicles, as well as maintenance, operations or transfer facilities.

The authority has been approved for a FTA Urbanized Area Formula Program capital grant for the construction of a bus transfer station, as well as a feasibility study for an administrative/maintenance facility.

The transfer station is part of the renovation project at the old Union Station.

The federal grant requires 10 percent state and local matches.

The $62,182 will serve as the 10 percent state match and will be used as reimbursement for eligible costs associated with this project. These funds match $62,182 in local funds and $497,460 in federal funds, totaling $621,825.
