Man arrested in Fremont vehicular assault

FREMONT -- A man has been arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office after allegedly hitting another man with a van Tuesday night in the parking lot of Citgo gas station on West Main Street near the intersection of Church Street.
Thomas Everrete Pate, 39, of Stan Ray Road, was charged with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and placed under a $30,000 bond.
Pate is charged with striking David Kurt Grimes, 29, of Stanstonsburg, around 10:30 p.m. following a disagreement between the two men.
Following the incident, Grimes was taken by friends to a relatives home in Stantonsburg, where 911 was called.
Grimes was transported directly to Pitt Memorial Hospital for head trauma and internal injuries.
