Private school graduations ready to begin this weekend

Valedictorians and salutatorians from area private schools will begin turning their tassels this weekend. Three private schools will kick off the high school commencement season, beginning with the first ceremony later this week.
In addition to announcing details of individual ceremonies, school officials have named valedictorians and salutatorians.
Faith Christian Academy will lead off the events, with ceremonies Friday night in the sanctuary of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. In keeping with the school's tradition, the Rev. Dann Patrick, Faith's pastor, will deliver the student address.
There are 15 candidates for diplomas. Rebecca Collier, valedictorian, plans to attend Southeastern Free Will Baptist College, majoring in secondary education. Salutatorian Lindsay Stutts will be studying nursing at Liberty University.
Wayne Country Day School ceremonies will be held Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m. in the school gymnasium. The 20 graduating seniors selected Leigh Tanner, science department chairman, as commencement speaker.
Valedictorian is Ama Zbarcea, who will study genetic biology and international business at UNC-Chapel Hill. Salutatorian Katie Jackson plans to major in communications at Elon University.
Wayne Christian School has 29 seniors graduating on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m. in the school gym. Student speakers will include valedictorian Reagan Hinton and salutatorian Christina Foster. Ms. Hinton said she will be attending Salem College, with a double major, business and international business relations and a minor in English. Ms. Foster plans to study nursing at Charleston Southern University.
