A 9-year-old Rosewood girl underwent surgery on her arm Sunday night following an attack by a neighbor's dog.
Wayne County Animal Control Director Vicki Falconer said girl's injuries were severe.
Falconer said the dog is a mixed breed and has been a family pet for years.
The dog will be quarantined for 10 days, while Falconer decides if the dog is a danger. The animal will then either be released to its owners, or will be euthanized.
Falconer said the young victim, a student at Rosewood Elementary, was playing with other children and riding a scooter when he dog came out and bit her.
Falconer added the girl is responding well the surgery she received at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
