United Way of Wayne County will hold its annual Day of Caring on Friday, May 13.
The one-day volunteer event connects local businesses, individuals, church groups and civic clubs with our community through volunteering for a service project at a Wayne County non-profit.
A few of the 2011 Day of Caring projects include: delivering meals to seniors with the Meals on Wheels program, facility improvement at the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County, volunteering at the Lobsterfest for the Partnership for Children, supporting disaster efforts with the American Red Cross and spring cleaning at the Wayne County Museum.
There are projects of every shape and size, log on to www.volunteerwayne.org to see a complete list.
More thanr a dozen local groups have already registered to participate in this year's event.
"We are excited about another great Day of Caring. This year we've had a very positive response from the community. We are looking forward to helping local non-profits and improving lives," said Karen Schneider, United Way of Wayne County's Community Investment Director.
