The Stop the Funeral Initiative will hold its Unity Revival on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Word Faith Center at 286 Buck Swamp Road.

The theme for this year's revival is "United the Community for Change: A Call to Action."

Dr. William Barber, president of the North Carolina Conference of the NAACP, will be the featured speaker at the service.

Co-convener of the initiative, the Rev. Michael Stephens, noted the recent shooting death of a 3-year-old girl and said people must turn to spiritual warfare to combat the epidemic of violence.

"As long as children are in danger on a playground, there will be more to do and as the church, we are called to do this work. We must continue to be an important component of any effort to change our communities," he said.

Area churches, community leaders, civic leaders and concerned citizens from across Wayne County are urge to attend.

For more information, call 581-9178, ext. 104, the Rev. Barber at 394-8137 or Francine Smith at 394-2221.
