Student assaulted on school bus
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating an assault on a 14-year-old girl that happened on a Southern Wayne High School bus while it was on Linen Street at Dudley.
According to the bus driver, who was not identified in the report, the victim was seated at the back of the bus when another 14-year-old got on the bus, walked to the back and hit her with a closed fist.
The assailant got off the bus and a 16-year-old female who had been suspended from school climbed aboard the bus, but was told to leave by the driver.
According the report both girls have now been suspended and charges are pending.
Thefts
*Janice Delores Chambers, 59, North Hillcrest Street, told Goldsboro police someone stole $300 in cash and a debit card valued at $10 from her purse while it was at her house.
*Lakeisha Joyce McClary, 25, North New Hope Road, reported to Goldsboro police the theft of $430 in cash from her car.
