The Goldsboro Police Department's Boy Scouts Explorer Post 209 will sponsor a flapjack fundraiser Saturday, April 9 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Applebee's, 901 N. Spence Ave.
The cost is $7 for a stack of pancakes, sausage and drink.
All proceeds will go to the post for its programs and projects, said Goldsboro police Sgt. Trey Ball, senior Explorer adviser.
"The kids are really selling the tickets and some are working on it to help offset the cost of a trip to Washington, D.C. in May for a national police conference."
Explorer Post 209 is open to youths ages 14-20.
"We are really looking for those who are interested in law enforcement and criminal justice as a possible future career," Ball said. "They get a lot of the same training that police officers get in the (police) academy.
"We are a service group, too. They are helping out at Pig in the Park with parking and the air show and Relay for Life."
For more information about the post or to purchase tickets contact Ball at 580-4236, ext. 3. Tickets will also be available at the door on the morning of the event.
