Wayne County commissioners Tuesday morning will be briefed by Seymour Johnson Air Force Base officials concerning the Wings Over Wayne Air Show to be held April 16-17 at the base.
An agenda briefing will start at 8 a.m. followed by the meeting at 9 a.m. in the commissioners' meeting room on the fourth floor of the county courthouse annex.
The air show could attract up to 300,000 people to the county during its two-day run. The gates will open each day at 8 a.m. and close at 6:30 p.m.
Activities will include numerous aircraft demonstrations including performances by the Thunderbirds, the Air Force's precision flight team.
Aaron Tippin will be in concert April 16 at 5 p.m. and Tracy Lawrence will perform on April 17 at 5 p.m.
In other business Tuesday, commissioners are expected to schedule meetings of the Board of Equalization and Review for April 19 and June 7 and 21.
Commissioners sit as the Board of Equalization and Review to hear complaints from taxpayers who question the value that the county has placed on their property.
The county is currently in the final stages of the countywide property revaluation that the state requires every eight years. Property owners should soon receive their new property values.
Commissioners will be asked to adopt proclamations designating April 10 to 16 as Volunteer Recognition Week and April as Gardening Month in the county.
The board also will be asked to authorize County Manager Lee Smith to sign a State Aid to Airports Block Grant.
The grant would provide $67,500 toward a $75,000 project to improve runway lighting at the airport.
