Bob Kemper, right, and Beverly Keen, members of the Neuse River Beekeepers Association, collect a swarm of honeybees from the yard of Trey Kilpatrick on North Church Street in Mount Olive Sunday. It took them about a half-hour to remove the bees, estimated to be about 7,000 in number. Keen said that bees are now in the swarming stage and are looking for a place to build a new hive. People who discover a swarm are urged not to destroy it but to call Keen at 922-4341 or Kemper at 731-2146. Bees are valuable to the ecosystem and help pollinate plants for both farmers and gardeners.
