N.C. Eastern Region to hold tourism meeting in Duplin County

The 2011 Tourism Mini-Summit hosted by North Carolina's Eastern Region will be held at the River Landing Country Club in Wallace on Wednesday from 9 a.m until noon.

Local officials and residents will be able to hear tourism experts as they explore interesting facets about the area's growing tourism industry and learn how they and their communities can take part in the growing sector of the economy.

Attendees can enjoy a buffet lunch prepared by River Landing's own award-winning chef immediately following the event.

After lunch, participants can choose to tour the antebellum home, Buckner Hill Plantation, and hear how the site was chosen as the set for the film "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," as well as visit Liberty Hall Plantation in Kenansville, the 19th century home of the Kenan Family. The other tour option includes a wine tasting at the Tartan Tasting Room at the Country Squire Winery followed by a tour of the Duplin Winery. Lastly, guests can choose to tour th grounds at River Landing. Or they can play golf.
