A city council unanimously agreed Tuesday that Joe Huffman should be its next city manager.
But it wasn't Goldsboro's board.
More than a month after announcing his retirement from city government, Huffman has accepted the same position in Pascagoula, Miss., the News-Argus learned this morning via www.gulflive.com.
Huffman said a few weeks ago he had made no decision on whether or not to accept the job if he, indeed, was offered it -- and rejected the notion that there are factors that make the opportunity in Mississippi better than the role he will leave March 1.
But Wednesday morning, a few hours after the Pasca-goula council made its offer, he agreed to its terms.
Attempts to reach Huffman before press time were unsuccessful.
