Armed robbers struck a Goldsboro convenience store twice within a three-day period, making off with close to $250 in cash and several cigars valued at $15.
A second convenience store, Arrington Mart on Arrington Bridge Road at Dudley, was robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon.
The first robbery happened Friday around 8:54 p.m. at the Friendly Mart on N.C. 111 South, Wayne Sheriff's Office investigators said.
A clerk told deputies that two black men entered the store and that one of them had waved a pistol at her and told her to open the cash register. The second suspect then slid across the counter and grabbed $150 in cash.
The clerk and another employee who was coming out of the store's office were ordered to get on the floor. The two suspects then fled on foot north on Spring Bank Road.
Deputies said the armed suspect was wearing a blue jacket and dark pants and that the second one was wearing a light gray hoodie and light tan pants.
The store was robbed again Monday about 9 p.m.
A store employee said that a black man used a small automatic handgun to rob him. He said the man jumped over the counter and took $80-$100 from the cash register and then grabbed five expensive cigars as well.
Rice said the man was wearing a red bandana around his face and had on a red hoodie with an unknown symbol on it.
The suspect again made the employee lie down on the floor so that he could not see which way the robber left.
A clerk at the Arrington Mart said that two black males, both wearing bandanas around their mouths and noses, entered the store around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
One male, described as being about six feet tall and weighing 175 to 200 pounds, pointed a small black handgun at the clerk and demanded money. He was wearing a burgundy hoodie with a crest on the left side. He also was wearing white socks on his hands.
The second suspect was described as being about five feet tall and 230 pounds and was wearing a gray Roca Wear hoodie.
They fled the scene in a brown four-door sedan driven by a third black male.
