Katie Wagner draws designs that will make her tea cup distinctive in Sarah Merritt's art class at the Wayne County Arts Council. The students are making clay tea cups for display during an Arts Council exhibit of photographs shot by airmen stationed in Afghanistan. The exhibit is a part of Wayne County Reads 2011. This year's program is based on books about Afghanistan by author Greg Mortonson. Afghanistan expert Tim Nichols of Duke University will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at Wayne Community College.
