Chronic disease worshop offered at Senior Center

Wayne County Services on Aging is offering a free six-week workshop designed to help seniors manage their chronic illnesses.

Among the chronic illnesses the workshop will focus on are arthritis, asthma, lung disease, cancer, heart disease/heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, renal failure and stroke.

Participants will learn to manage pain, fatigue, depression and frustration; increased fitness and self-confidence; use medications wisely; improve communication; choose foods for health; solve problems effectively; and set goals.

Classes will be held on six consecutive Wednesdays from 3 to 5:30 p.m. starting Jan. 26. Participants will receive a free book and free relaxation CD. The workshops will be held at Wayne County Services on Aging at 100 South John St. in downtown Goldsboro. Sessions will be taught by two registered nurses.
