Rouzer co-chair of ag committee

RALEIGH -- Senate Republican Leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, announced Friday that upon convening the 2011-2012 session of the General Assembly he will name Sen. David Rouzer of Johnston and Wayne counties and Sen. Don East of Surry County as co-chairmen of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources.
Sen. Brent Jackson of Sampson County will serve as vice chairman of the committee.
All three are Republicans.
Additionally Rouzer and East will serve as co-chairmen of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Environment, and Natural Resources.
"I am proud to announce we will have strong leadership in the Senate for this crucial aspect of our state's economy," Berger said. "Senators Rouzer, East, and Jackson have the right ideas for shaping policy on agriculture, the environment, and natural resources.
Rouzer is beginning his second term in the Senate.
