Shot, but refused police help
Jaquan Ronte Hines, 21, Country Club Road, Fayetteville, told police he was walking along the 600 block of Newsome Street Thursday night around 6:30 p.m. when a stranger came up behind him and shot him in the right buttock.
Police said that Hines provided few details and told them he did not want the police involved.
Hines drove himself to Wayne Memorial Hospital, police said.
Windshield damaged
Timothy Ray Sauls, 27, Sandstone Drive told police he was traveling south on N.C. 111 South around 12:35 a.m. Friday when a black male jumped in front of his truck. Sauls said the man threw something at his truck striking the windshield causing $600 in damages.
The man then fled on foot, Sauls said.
Credit cards stolen
Two local residents reported that someone had used their credit cards to make purchases.
Lemuel Johnson, 52, Randall Lane, said someone had used his identity to make $900 in purchases.
Nelda Sharkey, 62, Hunters Creek Drive, said that $4,741.60 in purchases had been made using her credit card numbers. Most of the purchases were made in the Houston, Texas, area, she said.
Copper theft
Someone did $150 in damages to a window air conditioning unit belonging to the county of Wayne. The thief or thieves damaged the unit by breaking off $50 in copper from the unit.
Purse/wallet stolen
*Rachel J. Gallardo, 22, Nellis Drive, reported the theft of her wallet that contained $800 in cards and other items.
*Faye W. Whitfield, 72, Erik Drive, Dudley said her purse was removed from a shopping cart. It contained $36 in cash, a $125 cell phone, glasses valued at $250 and an assortment of credit cards and her driver's license.
