These are the year's top 10 stories based on the number of Internet page views -- the number of times they were read by you, the reader, at www.NewsArgus.com.

1) Four dead in U.S. 117 accident -- Sept. 19

Four unidentified men died Sept. 18 in a head-on collision on U.S. 117 South Alternate in front of Tri-County Electric in Dudley. The men were later identified as Jeremy Elijah Bryant Pate, 20, Dudley; Gordon Lane, 41, Mount Olive; Joseph Lee Carter, 22, Dudley; and Jerrod Roddick McKiver, 20, Dudley. Pate was found to be at fault with a blood alcohol level of 0.14..

2) Man, 30, murders girlfriend, then kills himself -- Dec. 27

Goldsboro police are investigating what they call the apparent murder of Tequilla Danyele Barrett, 26, of Hugh Street, by Derris Jamar Oates, 30, of Dakota Street, who then appeared to have shot himself.

3) Mount Olive woman dies; hit head-on -- Oct. 18

Kristie J. Lee, 37, Thunder Swamp Road, died after her car was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by Hermelindo Castro, 33, of Dudley, in what officials said appeared to be a drunk driving wreck on Oct. 17.

4) Suspect dies after being tased at scene -- Jan. 27

Joe Nathan Spruill Jr., 33, died after being tased after becoming combative while being placed under arrest by Wayne County Sheriff's deputies Martin McAlduff and Zachary Kinlaw. A subsequent autopsy by the state Medical Examiner's Office found that Spruill died of a cocaine overdose, not of the Taser's electric shock.

5) Man found murdered in city parking lot -- April 18

Charles Ray Morgan II, 26, Lincoln Drive, was found dead near the 1200 block of Day Circle about 4 a.m., while two others, Kevin Barksdale and Brian McLaurin, were transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital.

6) Snow Hill man dies in U.S. 70 accident -- March 7

Perry Michael Lanier, 45, Snow Hill, was killed March 6 on U.S. 70 near the on-ramp of Berkeley Boulevard in an accident with a rollback tow truck that had stopped to help a stranded motorist.

7) Woman dies in one-car accident -- Oct. 13

Susie Garner Stanley, 60, died when she was ejected from her car during a single vehicle accident on U.S. 70 on Oct. 12.

8) Three killed in wreck on N.C. 222 -- Oct. 10

Three people died on Oct. 10 in a single vehicle accident on N.C. 222. Killed were Joshua Brantley, 25, of Fremont; Jacob Floars, 17, of Fremont; and Ashley Haskins, 18, of Fremont. Driver Mark Aaron Pope, 17, of Fremont, was taken to the Pitt Memorial Hospital.

9) Three killed, one injured in crash -- Oct. 11

Investigators say the fatal crash on N.C. 222 on Oct. 10 was likely caused when Pope, speeding, lost control in a curve and crossed the center line before leaving the road and striking a large ditch. Floars was a student at Charles B. Aycock High School, while Ms. Haskins and Pope were former students, with Ms. Haskins graduating in May.

10) Man, 19, dies after shooting at store -- June 1

Police were looking for a suspect and a motive in a shooting that killed Stacey Lamar Edwards, 19, of Maple Street, on May 31 near Madison Meat Market at Madison and Holly streets. The suspect was described as a black male in his late teens to early 20s, dark skinned and wearing a dark hat.
