Police hunt for suspect in city home invasion

An unknown subject fired shots into a residence at 308 West Spruce St. at 5:53 a.m. Saturday. The suspect then reportedly entered the residence and fired additional shots.
Ruby Gayle Dixon, 33, was shot once in the foot. The family dog, a pit bull, was also fired upon and presumed dead by police.
Ms. Dixon was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital. The incident resulted in damages the home's walls, floor boards, a hallway door and a couch.
Sgt. Dot Ardes, of the Goldsboro Police Department, said that the suspect took no property from the home.
According to reports, the home was occupied by two 2 year olds, an 11-year-old, a 13-year-old, and a 15-year-old in addition to Ms. Dixon at the time of the shooting.
Ms. Dixon was treated and released from Wayne Memorial the day of the incident.
Ardes said that several leads are being pursued by the police.
