With the help of a series of phone calls from area residents, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office arrested two men Wednesday following a home invasion and armed robbery.
According to a report, at about 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, several calls were made to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office about a robbery in process on Central Heights Road. With the information from those calls, as well as other witness statements, Wayne County Sheriff's deputies were able to arrest Travis Antonia Harris, Jr. 19, and Alfonzo Mack, 18, both of Leslie Street, after a foot pursuit.
Both suspects are charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of second degree kidnapping and one count of assault inflicting serious bodily injury, and were placed under a $500,000 bond.
The victims, a 78-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman, were assaulted by the suspects during the robbery. Both were treated and released at the Wayne Memorial Hospital Emer-gency Room. The stolen property was all recovered.
Sheriff Carey Winders said the quick arrests were made primarily due to the residents who cooperated with law enforcement.
