Hearing set on 2-bridge project plan

WILSON -- The replacement of two bridges on Downing Road (State Road 1163) over a swamp northeast of the Wiggins Mill Reservoir will be the subject of a citizens' informational workshop Sept. 28.
Sponsored by the state Department of Transportation, the workshop will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in Room G-237 of the Frank Eagles Community Business Center on the campus of Wilson Community College, 902 Herring Ave.
The DOT is proposing to replace bridges 65 and 66 on Downing Road with new structures. Traffic will be detoured around the bridge site while construction is taking place.
DOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments about the proposed project. The opportunity to submit written comments or questions also will be provided. Interested citizens may attend at any time during the workshop. No formal presentations will be made.
Maps showing the project area will be on display at the workshop.
