Cornelius Donnell Weeks

A suspect in a July shooting of two men was arrested by Goldsboro police Friday after he had briefly barricaded himself in the attic of a residence on West Oak Street.

Cornelius Donnell Weeks, 22, was jailed under a $1,010,500 bond on two felony counts each of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, four counts of discharging a firearm into occupied property and two orders for arrest for failure to appear on counts of driving while license revoked and assault with a deadly weapon.

The police department's Street Level Task Force, the department's housing officer and Patrol C-shift officers made the arrest after executing a search warrant at the Oak Street residence.

Weeks was charged in connection with a July 26 shooting on the 400 block of West Holly Street.

He surrendered without incidence.

Two victims, Jonathan Keys, 18, and Robin Monroe, 27, were both shot while riding in a vehicle. They were transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital where Monroe was treated and released. Keys was taken by air ambulance to Pitt Memorial Hospital where he was eventually treated and released.
