Wayne Community College has once again received an "exceptional" rating among the state's 58 community colleges.

According to the 2010 Critical Success Factors report, WCC was one of 11 community colleges that met "Exceptional Institutional Performance" standards.

To receive the rating, a college must not only meet and exceed all eight performance standards, including passing rates on licensure and certification examinations, performance of college transfer students and curriculum student retention, graduation and transfer, candidates must also have no licensure exams with a passing rate of less than 70 percent, and college transfer students must meet or exceed the performance level of native University of North Carolina students.

"Earning the 'Exceptional Institutional Performance' distinction is a testament to the outstanding instruction and service WCC provides its students," said Dr. Kay Albertson, WCC president. "It is also a celebration of the excellent performance of Wayne Community College students."

The annual report was based on data collected during the 2008-09 academic year.

This is the eighth time in nine years WCC has earned the status.
