Type O blood supply remains critically low

Type O blood is still in critical status, according to Kim Berrier, senior donor recruitment representative with the American Red Cross.

To help get the supplies back up to normal and also encourage other donor types to give blood, the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross has partnered with local business for free give-aways during July. It's called the Donate and Dine Campaign.

Donate and Dine Campaign blood drives will be held at these locations:

July 16 at Chili's Restaurant from noon to 4:30 p.m. Donors will receive a Chili's dessert coupon and a Red Cross tote bag.

July 16 at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors will receive a Chick-Fil-A coupon.

July 23 at Sam's Club from 1 t o 5:30 p.m. Donors will receive a Chick-Fil-A coupon.

July 30 at Pizza Hut on Ash Street from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Donors will receive a coupon for a free medium pizza and a Red Cross tote bag.

Other July blood drives will be at:

July 13 at the Red Cross chapter house, 600 N. George St., from 1:30 to 6 p.m.

July 15 at Excell Linde from 7:30 a.m. to noon and the public works maintenance center at 161 Clingman St. from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

July 17 at Berkeley Mall from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

July 22 at Britthaven of Goldsboro from 2 to 6:30 p.m.

July 24 at New Hope United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

July 25 at Providence United Methodist Church from noon to 4 p.m.

July 26 at Goldsboro Milling Co. from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

July 27 at 3HC from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

July 29 at Eureka United Methodist Church from 2:30 to 7 p.m.

July 30 at the Social Security Administration from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

July 31 at Dudley Christian Church from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
