Special Olympics names award winners

Special Olympics Wayne County recently named its annual award winners.
Shannon Moore was named male athlete of the year and Heather Pardue was named female athlete of the year, both for independents or agencies.
In the same category for schools, Chris Underwood of Eastern Wayne High was named male athlete of the year, while Lauren Odum of Rosewood High School was named female athlete of the year.
Teachers of the year were Crystal Casey and Michelle Gregory, both of Charles B. Aycock High School.
Joyce Delano was named volunteer of the year, while the Jenkins family -- Don, Charlotte and Alan -- were chosen as family of the year.
Coach of the year was Jana Foote, and Knights of Columbus were named organization of the year.
