"Vulgar designs and words" covered menu boards, windows, doors, tables, chairs and playground equipment at the Berkeley Boulevard Sonic Drive In restaurant early Tuesday, Goldsboro police said.

According to a police report filed by Officer J.R. Anderson, glass chalk was used in the vandalism, which took place sometime between 5:15 and 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, witnesses reported.

Sonic employee Mark Beeston told police he first noticed trash all over the ground in the back parking lot.

Then, as the sun came up, the vulgar markings written all over property at the business came into view, Beeston reported.

This is not the first time the Sonic Drive In has been vandalized -- Beeston told police that Tuesday's vandalism was the "third similar incident" taking place at the business over the past year.

Damages were minimal, but the glass chalk used scratched some of the menu boards, causing damage listed at $80.

Total damages to the menu boards, windows and playground property was listed at just over $200, according to the report.

A manager working at the restaurant this morning said she was not working on Tuesday, and had not seen the damages.

Another manager working at the Sonic Drive-In last night referred further comment to the corporate office.
