Schools honor Title 1 essay and poster winners

Wayne County Public Schools recently held its annual Title I student recognition program in the Goldsboro High auditorium.
"Kids Under Construction" was the theme of this year's celebration. Essay and poster winners from each school were presented first, second and third-place medals. Take-Home Computer participants and Title I Parent Advisory Council members were also recognized.
First place award winners included: Brogden Primary, Corey Foster, essay; Karen Morrisroe, poster; Carver Elementary, Ashantavia Leach, poster; Carver Heights Elementary, Quinlan Case, essay, Zykeah Jones, poster; Dillard Middle, SirTauria Hilliard, essay; Eastern Wayne Elementary, Jaime Evans, essay, Ricky Davis, poster; Fremont STARS Elementary, Diamond Jones, essay, Mikayla Scher; Grantham School, Cristal Ambriz Huerta, essay, Amber Futrell, poster; Meadow Lane Elementary, David Baker, essay, Zavion Hardy, poster; North Drive Elementary, Brittany Whitfield, essay, Brian Aguilon-Orozco, poster; Northeast Elementary, Destiny Baker, essay, Ronnie Brewington, poster; Rosewood Elementary, Brooklyn Mitchell, essay, Bradley Eason, poster; School Street Elementary, Keyshorn Smith, essay, A'Diamond Best, poster; Spring Creek Elementary, Kimberly Velasquez, essay, Johnny Moto Salas, poster; and Tommy's Road Elementary, Margarita Elisarraz, essay, Johnathan Buckrham, poster.
Entertainment for the evening included performances from Morgan Kohnen and Jaydon Davidson, both students from Northeast Elementary. The Dillard Middle Jazz Ensemble also performed, featuring Dillard Middle chorus instructor Darryl Richardson, Carver Heights music teacher, Kevin Alston, and eighth-grade Dillard Middle student, Chandler Evans.
