MOUNT OLIVE -- The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert early Tuesday for Harold Grey Jones, 82, missing from his Mount Olive home.
Jones, who has short-term memory loss, lives on Smith Chapel Road. He was wearing a light blue shirt with brown pants and brown shoes. He is 5-foot-9 and weighs 140 pounds. Jones has short gray hair and gray eyes.
Jones was believed to be driving a silver or grey 2003 Cadillac Deville four-door vehicle with N.C. license plate SPK4076.
Mount Olive police were working this morning to track down Jones' last known whereabouts. He is believed to have last been seen around 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Handy Mart in Mount Olive.
Police are working to locate Jones, but said that they did not think getting aircraft involved in the search at this point would be beneficial to the search due to the overcast conditions.
"We've got a silver alert out. We've contacted the hospitals. It's gone out statewide," Mount Olive police Chief Ralph Schroeder said.
