Suspect caught at scene of copper theft
Goldsboro police allege that Rodney Lamar Coley, 32, of South Alabama Avenue, was found pulling copper off of the outside of a residence on Thursday morning. Samuel Rouse of Goosedown Court, Raleigh, the owner of the house, suffered about $1,500 worth of damages to his property, authorities said. Police recovered around $100 worth of copper pipe from the scene, according to a report. Coley was charged with possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen property and was jailed under a $4,000 bond.
Breaking and entering arrest
Goldsboro police allege a North Slocumb Street 23-year-old is responsible for breaking into 608 E. Mulberry Street earlier this week. Phillip Michael Mason was charged with one count of felony-level breaking and entering and larceny and released under a $5,000 unsecured bond, authorities said.

*According to Goldsboro police, an unknown subject broke a window at a Central Heights Road residence, gained entry and took a 42-inch flatscreen TV as well as Playstation 3 game system and three games. Frances Thompson Mozingo, 58, estimated the total value of the items at $1,500, plus $50 worth of damage to the window.
*Harry Lee Monk of Lockhaven Drive told Goldsboro police an unknown subject broke a rear bedroom window to his residence, causing $300 worth of damage, and removed a $300 file cabinet, $200 worth of video tapes and miscellaneous pictures.
Fire investigation
A fire that destroyed a Seven Springs mobile home is under investigation, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office says. The mobile home, which belongs to Joseph Strickland of Camp Jubilee Road, had listed damages estimated at $5,000, according to the report. Authorities say they are looking into a possible suspect.
Thefts
*Ray Smeltzer, 21, Millbrook Village, reported to Goldsboro police the theft of a $250 cell phone from his vehicle while parked at Handy Mart on U.S. 70. He told police a subject parked beside his vehicle had asked him for money, but he refused, and alleged that the black male reached into the unsecured vehicle while Smeltzer was inside the store.
*Kevin Levi Davis, 22, Walker Street, reported to Goldsboro police the theft of a $100 graphic calculator from his vehicle while he was working Saturday at Handy Mart on U.S. 70.
*Goldsboro police reported that a $1,567 blue and gray scooter was taken from a Day Circle address and reported by Tyree Macklin, 23, of Mount Olive. Macklin further described the scooter as having a broken mirror, no gas cap and said it made loud noises because it had no exhaust.
*James Cunningham, 69, Duffy Drive, told Goldsboro police while shopping at the Target pharmacy, he inadvertently left his wallet on the counter. When he later returned, loss prevention reviewed the surveillance video and was able to identify the subject who removed the wallet, which contained $100.
*Tina Whitley, N.C. 581 South, filed a report with Goldsboro police about a stolen cell phone, worth $349, which was taken after she laid it down while shopping at a Parkway Drive business.
