Juvenile arrested
A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a number of break-ins in the downtown Goldsboro area over the past two months. He was transported to the Pitt Detention Center in Greenville. Following an ongoing investigation by the Goldsboro Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, approximately $7,000 worth of stolen property was recovered. Anyone with additional information about the break-ins is asked to call police investigator Dwayne Bevel at 580-4218 or Crimestoppers at 735-2255.
Suspicious fire
Police are investigating a suspicious fire on Day Circle in which someone started a blaze by setting clothes on a stove burner. No one was injured. Tameshia Uzzell, 20, said she was outside near the building and w hen she returned she noticed that a door was open and smoke was coming out. Neighbors used fire extinguishers to help put out the fire. Damages totaled $30 to a microwave, $20 to pots and bowls, $10 to a pair of children's pants, $600 to the stove, $170 to the stove top and fan and $150 to the ceiling.
Thefts
*Brandon Alexander Renko, 28, of New Hope Road, reported the theft of a $10,000 Suzuki sports bike from the parking space at his apartment.
*James Sargent, 46, East Forest Hills Drive reported the theft of $1,600 in parts taken from a mobile stage belonging to Traditional Showcade, North Virginia Street.
*Steve Carr, 61, South Taylor Street reported the theft of $100 in copper from an air conditioning unit. Damages totaled $3,000 to the unit.
