Girl Scout leader honored

Lillie Thompson was recently awarded the Leading the Way award at the Girl Scouts North Carolina Coastal Pines 3rd Annual Meeting.
The award recognizes a Girl Scout volunteer who provides significant support to the Girl Scout leadership development program. Awarded only once to an individual who gives continuous and significant service to the council, awardees exemplify the Girl Scout Promise and Law, and have demonstrated a spirit of loyalty and dedication to the Girl Scout movement and to the council .
Thompson is an American Red Cross Instructor who shares her time and talents with adults by offering these required courses and with girls by offering babysitting classes. In addition, Thompson is a Service Unit Manager, Mentor and Coach to the leaders in her area.
Thompson also played a vital role on the reorganization committee prior to the merger of two Girl Scout councils to form Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines on October 1, 2007.
