Rock damages fire station
Someone smashed a window in a roll-up door bay for firetrucks at the El-Roy Volunteer Fire Department substation on Dollard Town Road, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report. Fire Chief Steven E. Mozingo reported the damage, estimated at about $200, the report shows. Mozingo said it appeared that the vandals were trying to hit a Wayne County Sheriff's Office SWAT van, which was parked inside the fire station bay. The Special Weapons And Tactics van was not damaged, according to the report.
Teller machine 'crushed'
The front of a Bank of America teller machine in the 4000 block of U.S. 70 East was "crushed" by unknown means sometime over the last week, employee Steven Howell of Tarboro reported to Goldsboro police on Wednesday. Authorities estimated the damages at about $800, the report shows.
Tractor vandalized
Seven windows in a Caterpillar 966D tractor owned by Best Sand & Gravel were smashed with a rock, employee Johnathan Lovell reported to Goldsboro police on Wednesday. The tractor was parked in Best Sand & Gravel's construction yard in the 2000 block of N.C. 111 South, according to a report. In all, the tractor suffered about $3,000 in damages due to the broken windows, police said.
