Norwayne second in regional book 'battle'

Norwayne Middle School's "Battle of the Books" team took second place in the regional content, held at Pamlico Community College. Topsail Middle School won with 160 points. Norwayne earned 156 points.
The Norwayne team won the first round of competition March 12 when 11 area middle schools participated in the quiz bowl-type event to measure knowledge of more than two dozen books.
Sara Ruhl and Rhonda Nichols coached the Norwayne team. Student members included Jacob Balance, Michael Eutsey, Sharif Ewais, Megan Fallows, Brock Eberlan, Amanda Hancock, Robbie Jennette, Victor Prezbindowski, Julia Stamper, Ian Taylor and Chris Taveres.
