An award-winning film widely praised for its positive impact on teenagers is coming to Goldsboro this month.

"To Save a Life," is an independent movie about the real-life challenges facing young people. It is rated PG and has received outstanding reviews from across the nation.

Officials with United Entertainment Corp. have confirmed that the movie will open Friday at Premier Theatres.

Created by New Song Pictures, Outreach Films and distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films, "To Save A Life" is rated PG-13 and first opened to theaters nationwide in January.

It is about an all-star athlete and his girlfriend who find their lives spinning out of control when he loses a childhood friend. Help comes when he reaches out to others who are hurting.

"We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for the film," said screenwriter Jim Britts. "Hundreds of these groups are banding together to help hurting teens, and truly start a movement of hope. We are encouraged to see the film's powerful message really will help save lives."

"The grassroots support for 'To Save a Life,' even before it releases, has been amazing," director Brian Baugh said. "While teens obviously love blockbuster films, they also aren't afraid to be challenged by films like 'To Save a Life.'

"They seem to embrace and respond to the authenticity of the movie and are proud of the fact that there is a movie out there that deals with real issues that they face everyday."

More information about the film and its showing dates and times can be obtained by contacting Premier Theatres.
