Benefit concert planned for wheelchair hockey team

Independent rock band Airiel Down will be performing a benefit concert for the N.C. Electric Wheelchair Hockey Association at the Paramount Theatre Tuesday.

Proceeds from the event will help pay travel expenses for the Carolina Fury Powerhockey Team to participate in the 2010 Powerhockey Cup Tournament this summer in Toronto. The concern will start at 7 p.m. and should end by 8:30 p.m. Admission is $15 and tickets are on sale now. Visit www.ncpowerhockey.com for details.

Based in Raleigh, Airiel Down, in the last three years, has played more than 300 shows in 20 states across the U.S. and is gaining radio air time all over the world.

The band released two albums, "Vision" and "Shine," the most recently recorded in 2008.
