Assault with deadly weapon
An 18-year-old pregnant woman was severely injured by her boyfriend after he hit her in the face with a gun early on Thursday morning, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report. Tonniqua Shanquell Baker, of Day Circle, was at her boyfriend's Best Avenue home, the report shows. Ms. Baker told authorities that the boyfriend, who has not officially been charged, became upset when he came home, telling her to leave. Ms. Baker reportedly took the couple's 2-year-old daughter to the car then returned to the house, where Lewis began hitting her about the face and head with a gun, according to the report.
Marijuana at school
A 15-year-old Seven Springs resident was found "acting strangely" by Spring Creek High School student resource officer Deputy Terry Sutton. The deputy asked the student to come to the principal's office, where Sutton and school officials asked him to empty his pockets. A small bag of marijuana was located, Sutton reported, and the student was suspended and a juvenile petition was filed against him.
Vehicle break-ins
*A vehicle belonging to Wayne Pharmacy, of Wayne Memorial Drive, had a driver's side window broken while parked at an Evergreen Avenue residence, according to a Goldsboro police report. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle, police said.
*Around $580 in property was stolen from a vehicle belonging to Katerina Koeppen of Sheridan Forest Road while parked at the U.S. Post Office at 3100 Cashwell Drive, according to a Goldsboro police report. The vehicle had been left unlocked, police said.
*A Dudley man reported his truck had a driver's side window broken and property worth about $220 taken from the vehicle while parked on Bill Lane Boulevard on Thursday morning, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. Walter Sigmon said he left the vehicle on Bill Lane Boulevard after getting a flat tire, and returned to find the damages and stolen goods, authorities said.
