Police are investigating how a disabled 52-year-old Central Heights Road woman's toes were chewed off by four puppies while at her home, a police spokesman said.
Police Sgt. Chad Calloway said that police responded to a call from Wayne Memorial Hospital around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, where Sandra Monroe was being treated.
Calloway said the report shows Mrs. Monroe is disabled. A person with knowledge of the incident said she is a diabetic.
Mrs. Monroe had been left at home for about four days before her daughter returned, finding her injured.
The daughter called 911, and the 52-year-old was transported to the hospital, according to police records.
The police sergeant said that authorities continue to investigate the case, and are trying to determine who was responsible for Mrs. Monroe's care.
"As of yet, there are no charges, but we'll know something hopefully by the end of the day," Calloway said.
