Rosella's Pizzeria opened for business Dec. 18 at 1316B W. Grantham St. in the Little River Shopping Center on U.S. 70 West.
Owner Rudy Hoffert was previously in the pizza business for 20 years, but had recently taken a break from it.
"I've just always been in the pizza business," he said. "I've been out of it for two years and wanted to get back into it. This area here, this is the first time we're getting into it here."
Co-owner Debbie Ramos, said she was looking for a little bit of a change in opening a pizza shop.
"I wanted to get out of nursing mostly. It's something new and different," she said. "I helped him when we lived in Maine and the restaurant he had there."
Ramos said their pizza is mostly known for their unique sauce.
"Our sauce is different than most other places. It's sweet with a kick in the end and the dough is homemade," Hoffert said.
The restaurant delivers for a $3 fee and also offers dine-in seating.
"We keep it clean and quiet," Ramos said. "It's just a quiet place people can come in, sit down, relax and eat."
Since opening, Hoffert said the response they've gotten from new customers has been positive.
"Business has been pretty good. We've had people come in the first day, then come in the next day and come in the next day," Hoffert said. "Mostly a lot of repeat business and a lot of the same faces."
The menu features traditional pizza and gourmet pizza including taco, chicken Caesar, philly steak and almighty alfredo pizzas, among other options. In addition to pizza, Rosella's also has cold and hot subs, large salads and specialty items like wedgie sandwiches, calzone, pizza sticks and garlic cheese sticks.
They offer a 10 percent discount to people in the military, police officers, firefighters and EMS workers.
Rosella's Pizzeria is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. They are closed Sundays.
